Telč is situated in the southwest corner of Bohemian-Moravian highlands. The heart of the town constitutes an urban conservation area and in 1992 Telč was registered on the UNESCO´s List of World Cultural Heritage. Houses were built by ordinary townspeople stand side by side with building of the church and aristocracy.
The Telč Chateau is one of the jewels of Moravian Renaissance architecture. The chateau´s appeal is to a large extent due to the sensitive approach of its owners to its heritage, which has meant that the original interiors have been extremely well preserved. The tour of the chateau takes the visitor through grand Renaissance halls with wonderful wooden coffered ceilings.
On entering the historical centre of Slavonice , we feel that we have entered the 16th century. Although the town pulsates with modern busy life, the houses with varied shaped gables and attics, with simple and figural sgraffitti on the façades, arouse a suggestive impression that time came to a standstill here four centuries ago. For its unique complex of Renaissance buildings Slavonice has become one of the foremost municipal historical reserves in the Czech Republic. The town has been added into the UNESCO´s List of World Cultural Heritage too.
