Prague is fortunate in her situation – at the crossroads of Europe and in the basin of the country´s arterial waterway. Following all epochs we can untill nowadays find all kinds of constructions, each architectural style left its prints on the Prague´s territory.
As the city was founded more than one thousand years ago, you can admire Romanesque rotundas, there are Gothic houses in the Old Town, the world famous Charles Bridge and of course, the monumental St. Vitus Cathedral in the Prague Castle complex. The Renaissance period enriched the city with several charming palaces, afterwards, during the Thirty Years War, the Baroque style came to Prague and changed completely appearance of the city centre. From the 17th and 18th century Prague has many churches, gardens, houses, all of them built by the best European architects.
Also the 19th century, mainly its second half brought its specific architecture, you can see it e. g. in the Parizska street. At the turn of the 19th and 20th century the style Art Nouveau richly marked the capital. Buildings such the Municipal House, Evropa Hotel or houses in the National Street belong to the nice exemples. From the last several years of the modern architecture we can refer e. g. the Žižkov Tower or Dancing House.
During the only one half-day tour you will cross more than ten centuries of architecture.
